Date originale de l’activité : Mercredi, Septembre 16, 2026 at 13h à 14h30 HE
This webinar explores the connection between trauma, mental health, justice involvement, and reintegration. Participants will examine how adverse childhood experiences, emotional dysregulation, substance use, stigma, and systemic barriers can shape pathways into the justice system and create challenges when individuals return to the community. Using a trauma-informed, anti-oppression and strengths-based approach, the session will highlight practical strategies for supporting reintegration with dignity, accountability, emotional regulation, belonging, and community connection.

Working with People of Mixed Heritage in Social Work: Identity, Racialization, and Clinical Insights
Une présentation de : Viveka Ichikawa, MSW, RSW, PhD, Assistant Professor, School of Social Work, Toronto Metropolitan University Date originale de l’activité : Mercredi, Octobre 14, 2026 at 12h à 13h30 HE
People of mixed heritage may live coexisting realities of racialization, belonging, marginalization, and sometimes conditional proximity to privilege that fixed racial categories cannot fully capture. Grounded in anti-racist and anti-oppressive social work, this webinar examines how monoracism, misracialization, identity denial, and multiracial microaggressions affect the well-being, relationships, and everyday lives of people of mixed heritage. It also introduces narrative-oriented clinical approaches that listen beyond racial labels and invite social workers to encounter people through the fullness of their stories.
